What does Zero Star Mean? 

Being from the U.P., we don't really get the exposure to become a 1-5 star ranked player. But that has never stopped us from helping our athletes make it to their highest level in sport. We will embrace that underdog mentality, double down and outwork anyone that comes in our way. Not only will we outwork them but we will train smarter than them in the process, allowing us to maximize the year-long training cycle. 

Our goal with this academy is to build great athletes, great teammates, and ultimate competitors through mastery of the fundamentals on and off the court. Along the way, never lose the underdog mindset and work ethic of a kid hungry to make it. 

 

Why did we start Zero Star Academy? 

Long time Edge Athlete Ella Mason was questioning whether she should do the traditional AAU route. It was a very tough decision for her for multiple reasons, but we came to the conclusion that for her it was best to zero in on everything the college coaches were telling her she needed to improve on, in order to achieve her goal of earning a college scholarship. We really wanted to go all in to ensure that she not only made the right decision, but she was going to be ready the next time she stepped on the court in front of college scouts. Not only was she ready, but she crushed her summer team camps and elite camps that she went to leading to multiple scholarship offers. 

Who is the academy for? 
Any athlete looking to develop the right way. Our Edge U Programs are set up for athletes in 4th grade through the professional ranks.

Any high school girls looking to develop their game the right way- we are currently accepting 15U-17U athletes.

Do I need to be an Edge Athlete to join this academy? 
Yes, the whole point of this Basketball academy is to ensure we are working on ALL aspects to increase your performance on the court. Don't worry if travel is an issue, we also offer an online training app.

What if I'm a multi-sport athlete? 
Awesome! We have programs for in-season athletes and off-season, at the end of the day we will make it work! 

 

Will we play in AAU Tournaments? 

Yes, we are registered with AAU and will pick 2-3 tournaments per spring/summer. This will not be a typical AAU team, we will be focusing on addressing and developing weak points. This allows athletes to focus on being the best for their respective high school programs for their team camps. At the end of the day, most recruiters will be contacting athletes' high school coaches.

Like I mentioned above, this led to Ella going into her summer team camps as a totally different player.

She ended up getting a substantial increase in her 2nd offer based off "The jump she made physically/ skill-wise from the year before.”

Ella bet on herself and fully trusted in the process when it would have been easy for her to do what everyone else was doing.

Now she's committed to a top tier program to continue her academic and athletic career.
